Michael Evans has been disqualified from second position in Tuesday's Isle of Man TT Supertwin race one on technical inspection grounds, race organisers have confirmed.

In a statement, they said the Dafabet Racing team had failed to present his bike for mandatory post-race inspection on time following the second race on Friday.

In response, the team said it accepted the decision and took "full responsibility" for what it said was a "mistake and oversight by the team in our preparations" for the race.

Evans said he was "absolutely devastated" that his first ever podium position had been taken away, adding: "Heartbroken but I will move forward."

The Manx rider, who made his debut at the event in 2018, finished in second place on what was his 32nd birthday behind Northern Ireland's Michael Dunlop, with Rob Hodson in third and Paul Jordan in fourth.

TT organisers said initial checks of Evans' Kawasaki were undertaken by the technical officials after race one and the engine was sealed.

However, the team had been "unable to produce the machine for the technical inspection within the required timeframe" following the rider's retirement from race two on Friday.

A revised result for the Supertwin TT race one has seen Wigan's Hodson move into second place, with Northern Ireland's Jordan taking third.

Dafabet Racing said: "We accept the decision of the TT race organisation for what we can only describe as a mistake and oversight by the team in our preparations for the Supertwin race.

"We wish to apologise to the race organisers, the fans, our fellow competitors, our sponsors, and – above else – to Michael for this error, for which the team take full responsibility, and we thank him for his professionalism through this process and throughout TT 2025."

Releasing his own statement, Evans said: "I am absolutely devastated as is the whole Dafabet Racing team with the news regarding my Isle of Man TT races podium being taken away.

"I put my life on the line and rode as fast and as well as I could. Everyone could see how much it meant to me.

"As a rider I did not know anything was wrong with the bike or I would not have gone out on it.

"Please no messages as I will not be making any further comments on the matter at the moment."
