Saturday's Senior TT race had already been shortened to four laps

The 2025 Isle of Man TT's Senior race - the competition's blue riband showpiece - will not take place at this year's event due to weather concerns.

Organisers announced on Saturday evening that the race had been cancelled due to gusty conditions around the course.

It is only the second time in the event's history that the Senior race has not been run - the other occasion was in 2012.

Clerk of the course Gary Thompson said the decision had been taken on safety grounds following from riders who took part in a course inspection lap.

Announcing the cancellation, he said the "general feeling is that it [the course] is unsuitable for racing today".

The race had already been delayed by more than seven hours and reduced from six laps to four because of wet roads due to earlier rain.

Organisers had ruled out Saturday's blue riband Senior event being switched to Sunday due to reduced road closure times and poor weather forecast for the contingency session.

The race had initially been rescheduled to take place at 19:00 BST, with the course inspection lap beginning at 18:00.

The weather has caused significant disruption to schedules for the 2025 event

The 118-year-old TT races involve racing being held on 37.7 miles (61km) of public roads, with modern competitors reaching average lap speeds of more than 130mph (209km/h).

Significant disruption to the race schedule for the 2025 event followed a qualifying week that was beset by delays and cancellations.

Friday's racing saw Yorkshire's Dean Harrison secure the double in the Superstock class, and Manx brothers Ryan and Callum Crowe achieve the same feat in the Sidecar class.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's Michael Dunlop made it two out of two victories in the Supertwin class, securing his fourth win of the week and extending his record-breaking tally of TT triumphs to 33.
