Everton

Everton boss Frank Lampard, speaking to MOTD:

"It was a tough game. This is always a hard place to come. I thought we played really well in the first half and scored a really good goal.

"I'm disappointed we didn't hold out. It's a fair point. There is a great spirit in the team and we will only get better."

On Anthony Gordon's goal and the speculation surrounding his future: "A player at his level should react positively and I thought he did that."

On talk of a £60m bid for Gordon: "It's not happened. Nothing has changed."

On new g Neal Maupay: "He's a No 9 who can hold the ball up and be dangerous in the box. He has a good spirit and he's a good player. We need options up front. We are playing right now without mainline strikers. As players come back from injury and Neal comes in, we will be better for it."

Leicester City

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, speaking to BBC MOTD: "I thought we were good in the game and there were lots of really good moments for us.

"We just started the second half too ively, we weren't aggressive enough. When you go against a side that goes down to 10 men it can be difficult so to go 2-0 down was a real challenge.

"To be fair to the players they changed the dynamic and we were unlucky not to draw but to lose is disappointing.

"Youri Tielemans has made a couple of great balls, Jamie [Vardy] his timing was excellent and he would normally put the chances away, but he was getting the chances. Harvey Barnes was outstanding for us, we knocked on the door a lot, there was a lot of good for us but we're disappointed with the result.

"We have to press the first goal and have that ruthless streak when defending and if we can do that we will pick up better results."

On a potential move to Chelsea for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana: "There's nothing new to add to it - it's as simple as that."

A roar from the stands as Arsenal win an early corner.

Gabriel Martinelli plays it low into the box to Gabriel Jesus and then tries to play it back to his fellow Gabriel but Fulham nip in to clear.

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to BBC MOTD: "The last two games have had a lot of goals and a lot of goals conceded. It was a good game. We have always struggled against them but we came back. In the previous seasons we didn't have it but now we are starting to do it. It is a good lesson for us what happened in the first half but now it is a good game.

"We have to improve. We are soft in some departments. There are parts we need to be in the competition more. The Premier League doesn't wait. When you are waiting a while it is difficult.

"It was not a frustration for the goals to happen in set-pieces, it is that we didn't do what we planned."

Brought Erling Haaland for these games? "Definitely for this type of game. We have not done anything special for him that he didn't do before. It is important for him to get goals. He has the sense to score goals. The third one, to have the quality to be strong then put the ball in the net. The space depends on the movement of the opponents. You have to be patient and have more runners. It gives him more space.

"Bernardo Silva I never doubt. He is a huge competitor and has an incredible mentality. You have to be a winning player."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira: "It is a tough place to come to play. We did really well in the first half and managed to score those two goals. We knew it would be a different City team in the second half.

"We conceded too early then momentum was on their side and it was hard to deal with. We were a little less aggressive in the second half, maybe because we ran a lot in the first half. It was difficult for us.

"Of course you have regrets because you are hoping to get something from the game. I am really pleased and happy with the players. We want to compete. We did well against Arsenal, Villa and Spurs and in the cup game. Today we knew how tough it would be. We put our sleeves up and worked well as a team but in the second half it was a bit too much."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "When the score’s only 1-0, we know how it is. The boys defend with responsibility and make it hard for the opponent regardless. Generally we defended the situations well and deserved the win.

"The mood is really positive. We have full respect for our opponents and of the competition. All we can do is remain humble and hard-working. We have to keep that going."

On missing chances: "It’s just about getting in those positions more often, which we’ve done quite well. It’s about being balanced as a team, creating chances and not conceding many. This season so far we’ve done that OK as well. It’s always about the balance of the team."

On Pascal Gross: "He does pretty much everything in the team. He’s in the form of his life, I’d say. He’s a great guy to have and a very important member of the team."

There was a big ovation for Arsenal's head groundsman Steve Braddock, who died at the age of 58 earlier this month and a montage of pictures showing just how important he was having ed the club back in 1987.

Fulham get the game under way.

Leeds United

Leeds manager Jesse Marsch, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "First half not good, second half much better and a little bit unlucky not to get the lead. Brighton’s man-marking in the first half made things very difficult for us.

"I thought we pushed the game in the second half. I was much more pleased than the first and we have to learn from this and understand what these games are like.

"There was no part of me that just because we beat Chelsea we were the finished product or would win every game. We’re going to have hiccups and Brighton are a good team – they make it difficult for their opponents. In the end, it wasn’t enough from us and a good three points from Brighton."

On the referee's performance: "I was frustrated today with the referee. Against Chelsea and Barnsley I didn’t say a word to the ref all game. If I see things from the referee that I don’t think are fair, there won’t be any other recourse from me than to display my feelings and tell the referee what I think. I did that today and got a yellow.

"We didn’t have our best day, but I don’t think the referee had his best day either."

Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to Sky Sports:

"I love our team, I think it's a fantastic team and we had the performance.

"We created several chances, I know it gets more difficult when you're 1-0 down but in general I'm pleased, we gave very little away, a mistake for their goal but then we were on top of the game."

"The mentality of our team is remarkable."

On his side conceding first again:

"If it was simple, I'd change it, but it's much more to create a culture and mentality that these players have.

"There are games when you don't create anything but we created dangerous situations throughout the game.

"There was definitely something waiting for us. We have a good squad and I think when you have five substitutions, it's important to use them, which we did so I'm very pleased with many things."

Further additions?

"I'm happy, we have a strong squad. I've said before, we're always open if there's a good deal to be done out there.

"We're not the biggest spenders but if we need to do it we will do it."

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola to Sky Sports: "We have the ability to score goals but lately we are conceding a lot. It's nice leaving in this situation and to have a comeback. You are in the margin when this happens sometimes.

"They were well organised and we didn't do what we need to do in these types of games. What [Erling Haaland] has done today he has done all his career. It is nothing special.

"Bernardo Silva is the type of player that when things go bad he can step forward. He is maybe the best that we have when things go wrong.

"We dropped two points against Newcastle but we could have won with the chances we had and we learn that process. Today it was good."

Liverpool

Liverpool goalscorer Harvey Elliott: "It’s a massive relief for us and our fans to put in a performance and show people who doubted us. We’re buzzing."

On his goal: "It was OK. The emotion got to me a bit. To score at Anfield was a dream of mine as a kid. With a lot of pressure on us, it was a massive relief. Five goals was the perfect first half.

"I want Mo to get the golden boot so I do whatever to help him out [with es]. It wasn’t his day today.

"I’m loving it. I went through what I went through. I’m trying to be here for the team and do what I can.

"It's massive. But for us it’s nothing to get too excited about. Hopefully go again on Wednesday, same result – well maybe not as many goals."

Liverpool

Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold: "We took our chances today. We started really well.

"That’s what we needed to do after Monday. Our aim was to come out of the blocks. We played on the atmosphere here today. We were on the front foot from the first kick.

"It was an outstanding game, an exceptional performance.

On his goal: "Me and Bobby played a nice one-two and I just felt myself creeping to the edge of the box. I heard shouts of 'hit it' and I thought why not? I’ve hit it well. It was a good goal. I haven't seen it back yet. I’m sure I’ll see it on Twitter in a minute."

"It wasn't the start to tje season we hoped for. Three disappointing results. At home, nice weather, we knew the atmosphere would be there. We had a point to prove. We needed to win and we have in a special way."

Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who was banned from the dugout today and watched from a hospitality area, told BBC MOTD: "It was a good view, a lot of around me and I have the experience now so there's no need for a repetition."

On Conor Gallagher being sent off for two bookable offences in the opening 28 minutes: "You can't make the [second] challenge if you have a yellow card after 20 or 25 minutes. The challenge was a clear yellow card and gave us a huge disadvantage. There was no reason to make this decision [from Gallagher]."

"In the last 15 minutes once or twice we were lucky to not concede an equaliser."

On the form of Thiago Silva: "It suited him. He likes sitting deep and defending the box - he's maybe one of the best in the world to defend in the box. We played a back five in the second half to not get caught."

Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: "Very good. We wanted to show a reaction. Be ourselves. Getting to be the best version of ourselves. We play a specific way.

"We scored wonderful goals. The game settled and we kept scoring. It was about keep going. Not to humiliate Bournemouth, we couldn’t respect them more. It’s about putting the opponent under pressure. I could bring on the kids, they deserve it so much. Harvey is a special player, wonderful goal. Everything was perfect pretty much."

On Trent Alexander-Arnold's goal: "I don’t like it too much when a player is 35 yards away and the whole crowd shout 'shoooooot' but in this case it worked out well.

"It's important to get it off the chest and play football. Wednesday [against Newcastle] will be different. Today the mix of great weather and fantastic football, we don’t have that often at Liverpool so we should cherish it.

"At least we don’t have to answer the question anymore [about not winning]. A really good day for us. We won’t get carried away.

"If we want to be successful in this league we have to show consistency. That’s what we have to do now. That used to be our strength. We’ll watch Newcastle tomorrow and see what we can do against them."

Brentford

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking to MOTD:

"I'm very pleased and proud of our team. The players are amazing and showed top mentality. The amount of chances we created today was incredible.

"How we dominated it and controlled the game throughout but didn't win, that will be a big mystery.

"We have shown that we like to make substitutes and have good players who can change games. I 100% feel like we should have won.

"That was a nine out of 10 performance."

Just seen a kid waving a small cuddly toy that when it was turned round had a massive Aleksandar Mitrovic face on it.

Not sure what to make of that to be honest.

The final game of the day is upon us as Arsenal and Fulham look to continue their good starts to the season.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton goalscorer Pascal Gross, speaking to PLP: "We deserved to win. We played really well. Sometimes the last was missing, but I saw a good game and a good performance against a very good team.

"A goal is always big in the game. It comes down to small margins in the Premier League, so we'll take the result today.

"I thought we were playing well and in the second half we were confident we would win the game."

On Brighton's fine start: "We're just taking it game by game. It's a good start, but we're just focusing on the next game."
