Notts skipper Steven Mullaney and Liam Patterson-White have now taken this potentially crucial sixth-wicket stand beyond a first batting point to a 50 partnership.

Muilaney (39) and Paterson-White (25) have now put on 57 very useful runs.

James Hildreth has ended the curse of the 21 multiples in Somerset's innings.

On 83, he decided to forget about singles and the worry of moving on to that pesky 84 - instead hitting Ravi Ashwin for four.

He's since moved on to 90 and eyeing up a fine century.

It's a second Roses Match century of the summer for Keaton Jennings as he moves to three figures against Yorkshire.

But he still has a way to go to beat his best against the Tykes. That is is his career-best score of 221 not out, made for his previous county Durham at Chester-le-Street in June 2016 - in the year he earned his first England call.

First batting bonus point for Lancashire too in the Roses Match.

Keaton Jennings is on 97 - just three sort of a second Roses ton of the summer, having also got one in this summer's first Roses battle in Manchester in May.

Notts have now reached their first batting point - in the first three overs after tea, thanks to a partnership between Liam Patterson-White and Steven Mullaney that has far put on 43.

Durham are just one scalp away from a first bowling point after three wickets fell in the afternoon session.

There might have been a few butterflies in Somerset stomachs when Tom Lammonby departed at 113-3.

But James Hildreth and Lewis Goldsworthy have acted as antacids.

Their partnership is into its 39th over and has ed the century mark.

Captain Hildreth, on 72no, will have an eye on his own ton for the Group Two leaders who are well on their way to sealing progression to the Division One final stages.

Mike M: With the concern about rather meaningless Division Two and Three matches in September, if we are going back to the two-division 10&8 format next season, maybe set it up where next year’s Division One has all of this year's Div One, top three of Div Two and winner of Div Three?

This will not please Hampshire.

They have to win this one to pip Gloucestershire to Division One qualification.

And rain was not in their script. We only got 10 minutes and two overs of the evening session after tea before the heavens opened.

Very much Kent’s session as a series of Sussex batsmen have got themselves in, and then got out.

Teenage debutant Jas Singh has been the main wicket taker with 4-51, but he’s been well ed by the rest of the Kent attack who have bowled an excellent line and length.

Having been 50-0 just before lunch, Sussex will be disappointed to have lost seven for 98, although encouraged by a partnership of 51 between 19-year-old Oli Carter and 17-year-old James Coles, both of whom look excellent prospects.
